The Mavericks beat the Pistons by 37 points! And they led by as many in 26 in the first quarter. Still more surprising was their defensive play — the Pistons were just 5-for-19 in their lowest-scoring first quarter of the season.
The Mavs have now beaten the two best teams in the league, the Pistons and Spurs, so they have to be taken seriously.
Interesting sidenote: Bruce Bowen leads the league in 3-point shooting at 67 percent (14-of-21).
