Quote of the Day

By Daniel Strickland on October 18, 2007.

“I think everyone understands, in business, that sports is about as competitive as it gets, and everyone is going after the same prize. … At the pro level, everyone wants to emulate the San Antonio Spurs. At the collegiate level, it’s Duke.”
–Bernard Mullin, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Spirit, which owns and operates the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and the NHL’s Atlanta Thrasher

Is this little snippet from today’s Charlotte News & Observer really worth posting? Probably not, but with 13 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds until the 2007-2008 season gets underway, I’ve got very little to work with.

On an unrelated subject, is there anything new you would like to see on SpursDynasty.com this season? Consider this an open thread — comment away.

Anyone else in Boston want to organize Spurs watching parties? Or where ever else there’s Spurs fan transplants, hollah.

Enjoy your blog. ATX Spurs fan here. I have been trying to find the Vegas pick for the NBA championship this year. At the start of the season last year, Vegas had the Spurs locked in as 07 champs. I thought that was pretty amazing. Of course, it was my pick, but I am a homer. So, I was just curious if you knew who the mob…er I mean Vegas books picked this year. Thanks.

I would expect the Vegas books to pick the Spurs to repeat, and so far they do.

My advice is: wait until the Mavs and Suns have put together some winning streaks, as they did last year. The odds should improve — bigger payout for Spurs fans — sometime in December or January, before the Rodeo Road Trip.
