Spurs Draft Pick Barbosa Puts Up Big Numbers for Suns

Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash had this to say about Leandro Barbosa after tonight’s nail-biter loss against the Kings:

“I think the bottom line is that we showed some heart, fought back, and I thought the second unit was great. Leandro had an amazing game.”

Barbosa was a first round draft pick for the Spurs in 2003, and is off to one hell of a start this season.

I believe we drafted him at Phoenix’s direction in a pre-arranged trade, but whoever wanted him, he was a hell of a pick. I don’t know if you guys remember, but I was pimping Barbosa and Boris Diaw before the season started – both of them were stellar in international play this year, both of them are very talented, and both of them have the physical tools to succeed in the NBA. It’s only a matter of time.

The Suns will be a dangerous team for a long time to come.
But we still have two of the top five international players in the game – three if you count Timmy.
